Barr Camp

From a 1993 hike up Pikes Peak, here's a photo of Barr Camp.
The whole Barr Trail climbs from Manitou Springs to the top of Pikes Peak in about 12.6 miles (20.3 km) and gains 7,900 feet (2,407 meters) in elevation along the way. Barr Camp is about halfway along the trail. And yes, we hiked all the way up in one day. There's a marathon each year that runs up and back, and the best runners can finish in about three and a half hours! Visit Vintage Weekly for more old photo fun.

that's a long hike! I've hiked but never going to heights like this. What a fun memory this must be for you.

Nice shot, looks like a nice place amongst the forestry.

Wow! Looks like a fabulous hike. We had planned to do the cog train up and then ended up not going at all, because my hubby has COPD and had trouble breathing when we drove up Mt. Evans (14,000+ feet to the highest paved road and parking lot, and then the mtn. goes on up a little ways more) In our younger days, I would have been "Let's go!"

Wow! That is quite a hike. Especially with the huge elevation gain. Those are some hardy folks who run it.
